About GenX Annex

As a very-online GenXer, I've found that my generation has somehow been labeled as a host of things we're not. While I can't set the record straight, I can tell you about growing up weird, in a time where a lot of us really did play outside most of the time, where discovering ourselves amidst Reagansim and anti-queer sentiment and laws were the norm, and where making joy became a prerequisite to living well. I can tell you about being punk but also an outsider to that scene, about the time I joined a cult, and about how my parents challenged the Status Quo from within.

This site and blog spans the gamut of life itself: our "feral" childhoods, being a teen during the 80's, partying (and over-partying) in the 90's, parenthood, disability, caregiving, marriage, hobbies, humor, and remaking who we are as the adults in the room. What are our values? What's most important to us? What advice do we give knowing what we know now? Does the bullshit really matter?

I'll offer you tools for living life, a good laugh and occasionally some products I like. I'll also document road trips and everyday joy, because as it turns out, that's what matters.

We're not angry; we're just very tired and want our hearing back.
